Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes shared his thoughts on forward Kirill Kaprizov’s standout performance in Game 3 of the second-round Stanley Cup series against the Colorado Avalanche, a 5-1 victory that cut the series deficit to 2-1.
Kaprizov scored a goal and added two assists, bringing his postseason totals to 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) over nine games, with a plus-11 rating. He now leads all NHL playoff scorers outright.
“He was extremely competitive tonight and really showed his game. It was great to see,” Hynes said. “When he plays like that, you can see the impact he has on the ice. I think he embodied what the team needed to improve on in certain areas. As I told you over the last couple of days, there were many things we liked in the first two games, but they didn’t translate into results. Tonight, we were rewarded. It was a hard-fought game, with both teams extremely competitive, but it shows that this style of play gives us the best chance to win.”
Kaprizov currently leads the NHL playoffs scoring race with 14 points in nine games. Quinn Hughes and Mitch Marner are one point behind, while Taylor Hall trails by two.
